Underground fire water storage tanks

Underground fire water storage tanks

For the organization of a fire-prevention mode at the enterprises, plants and factories, farms, gas stations, bases of oil products and public places modular tanks are the actual decision. They will help to handle with large fires, where the primary means of firefighting are already powerless, due to the possibility of creating large reserves of fire water. Underground tanks can be made in different ways using different building materials, which determines the cost and timing of the project. To correctly determine the choice of tank, consider the main types of underground tanks and their benefits.

Features and types of underground reservoirs

The choice of underground tank for firefighting is limited to the following varieties:
  1. Underground concrete tanks – expensive to install and periodic maintenance, while resistant to corrosion and temperature changes concrete tanks are increasingly going down in history. Instead of them come technological and less expensive in the manufacture and installation fire water storage modular tanks.
  2. Underground modular tanks are an inexpensive and reliable solution for the organization of fire protection at facilities for various purposes (farms, agricultural enterprises, villages and human settlements, factories, kindergartens and schools, etc.). The use of galvanized sheet in modular structures increases the service life of fire water storage
  3. Stationary metal tanks are quite expensive to manufacture tanks with a short service life in aggressive environments. They are susceptible to corrosion and are afraid of water freezing – additional financial costs are required for insulation and additional protection against corrosion.
  4. Plastic underground tanks are water-resistant to corrosion and rot tanks. Due to the light specific weight, plastic tanks are not very suitable for underground installation – they can be washed away by groundwater. Plastic tanks are afraid of temperature changes – there is fragility, and as a result, the short life of the structure.

Advantage of modular underground tanks

Modular fire water storage tanks are an inexpensive and reliable alternative to expensive welded, concrete or plastic structures, thanks to a number of advantages:
  1. Powerful frame provides rigidity and reliability of capacity
Tanks are quick and easy to disassemble for reassembly elsewhere.
  1. The presence of a polypropylene insert ensures the waterproofness of the structure.
  2. Installation of a small tank on a strip foundation takes 1-2 days.
There is no need to order specialized equipment.
  1. Compact prefabricated elements of one tank up to 2000 cubic meters can be transported on one truck.
Galvanized steel sheets are resistant to aggressive environments and last a long time.
  1. The cost of manufacturing and installation of a modular tank is an order of magnitude lower than that of analogues due to lower material costs and a minimum of general construction work.
  2. The wide range of standard sizes of tanks allows to order already ready decision proceeding from production tasks (160 standard sizes).

Makbox tanks

Underground fire water storage tanks of the European brand Makbox demonstrate the best quality among all alternatives to organize a fire protection  regime at the site. Many successful projects are organized and executed by our company’s engineers in Ukraine and abroad. We are the founders of the technology of modular construction of fire water storage tanks. Makbox underground fire tanks are presented in 160 standard sizes, but also it is possible to order individual design of tanks according to the technical task of the customer.
